Date: August 21st, 2010
Hello All, I hope your summer has been as good as mine and that you are looking forward to attending this years I-SCMA conference in Pittsburgh as much as I am. 1st Vice President Bridget Vilenica and I met with the Renaissance hotel folks August 18, and everything is shaping up nicely. By now you should have received your registration information along with informational sheets regarding the Walk, Golf, Business Program and Spouse/Guest Program. If you have not please let me know and I will be happy to see that you do.
Please consider yourself reminded that you need to have your hotel reservations set no later than 20 SEP 10 to take advantage of the absolutely great rate available to conference attendees.
The Renaissance is by far the best hotel in Pittsburgh in my opinion and believe me when I say you won't be disappointed with the accommodations or the food. We were very fortunate to get such a great rate. Also keep in mind that there is a parking garage directly across from the hotel for a fraction of the cost of valet parking by the hotel.
I would like to make this year's commemorative conference bags something to remember. Bill Lobecker has outdone himself on the bag this year and now we really need your help to fill them with some really cool stuff. Please look around your newspaper and send me about 125 items if you can no later than 01 SEP or so and I will see that they are all ready for our conference attendees upon check in. I really appreciate your attention to this matter and with the other officers help we will look after every other detail we can think of. Nothing for the bags are too small or to large. Please pitch in what you can. Items should be either shipped to me at the Beaver County Times 400 Fair Ave. Beaver PA 15009 or directly to the hotel with instructions to go to Molly Sweet for the I-SCMA Conference.
Here are some highlights I thought might also be worth sharing with you that are above and beyond the great program that Bridget has prepared for this year.
*Sunday is the Tailgate Party. There will be special live entertainment, great food and a corn hole tournament to get things started.
*1st Lady Kim Boggs is working on a list of beverages, snacks and music for the Presidential Suite that you won't want to miss Sunday and Monday nights.
*Monday night's Grand Banquet will feature rib eye and fish served buffet style along with all the fixings.
Last but not least I am worried that attendance is going to exceed our planning so the hotel has agreed to expand our block if I can let them know we will need them to prior to 03 SEP 10.
Please get your registration information into Bill Lobecker as soon as you can and make your hotel reservations while rooms are still available.
Thanks for all your support and I look forward to seeing you all again soon,
Larry Boggs
